Day 2 with Midway Labs USA at the 2018 Arnold Sport Festival

Saturday at the Arnold Sports Festival

Saturday was the highlight of the Arnold Sports Festival with a number of exciting activities going on throughout the expo center and beyond. Saturday night’s awards ceremony was also highly anticipated, with the winner of the coveted Strongman Classic being chosen. There was a whirlwind of activity in the Midway Labs USA booth on Saturday with all of our Team Midway athletes making an appearance. In addition to meet and greets and autograph signings with Alice Matos, Felipe Franco, Bella Falconi, Marcos Mion, Keo Necra, and Fernanda, Medal of Honor recipient and newest Team Midway member Dakota Meyer made an appearance.

The fun and excitement, including music, fitness challenges, and product demonstrations, continued on Saturday, providing entertainment for the enthusiastic crowd. Our Sales Reps also spent time in the Europa Sports Hospitality Suite, meeting with prospective Midway Labs USA partners.

The day was filled with an array of athletic events and contests, as well as non-athletic events. From chess to arm wrestling to physique, there was a little bit of everything on the third day. Saturday night featured the Arnold Classic’s main award ceremony. Midway Labs’ Vice President, Catherine Colle, was onstage to present winners with their awards.

In what may have been the biggest storyline of the weekend, Hafthor Bjornsson, aka The Mountain on HBO's Game of Thrones, won the Arnold Strongman Classic competition after coming in second place last year. Not only did he win, he won in record-setting fashion, deadlifting 1,041 pounds. Cailer Woolam also set The Cage deadlift record with a 930-pound pull.

In the Pro Wheelchair event, Harold “King Kong” Kelley won his third Arnold Classic title, beating out Reggie Bennett, Gabriele Andriulli, Daniel Minster, and Steven Lister.

Angelica Teixeira won her second consecutive Ms. Bikini International crown against Janey Layug, Casey Samsel, Romina Basualdo, Jen Ronzitti, and Breena Martinez.

Andre Ferguson also won the first-ever Arnold Men’s Physique title against Raymond Edmonds, Brandon Hendrickson, Logan Franklin, George Brown, and Steven Cao.

.

Other notable winners were Roelly Winklaar as Most Muscular and Fred Smalls as Best Poser.

Last but not least, William Bonac won this year’s Strongman Award to become the 2018 Arnold Classic Champion! He beat out against some very stiff competition, including Dexter Jackson, Cedric McMillan, Roelly Winklaar, Steve Kuclo, and Lionel Beyeke.

The Arnold Sports Festival concluded the next day on March 4th.
